Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (8-3) look to stretch their win streak to six tonight against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (7-4) at the "Duck Pond". First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm.
The Mallards swept the Kenosha Kingfish earlier this week in a four game home and home series, and last night the Mallards beat the Bullfrogs by a score of 10-7 to extend their win streak to five games and maintain a tie for first in the South Division of the Northwoods League.
Standing out for the Mallards yesterday was first baseman Joe Dudek (North Carolina). In his first game with the club, Dudek was 3-for-3 with three RBI, a double and two singles. Reliever Ben Neumann (Northern Illinois) got the win for the Mallards, tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless ball, giving up one hit while striking out two Bullfrogs.
On the mound tonight for the Mallards is 6'2", 210-pound Rob McDonnell (Illinois). McDonnell is 0-1 on the year pitching four innings against the Wisconsin Woodchucks last Sunday, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out six in a 3-5 loss.
Green Bay is scheduled to start Saginaw Valley State pitcher Mike Ellenbest (1-0). Ellenbest has appeared in two games for the Bullfrogs with a combined 4.26 ERA. In his only start for Green Bay, Ellenbest pitched 5.1 innings in a 14-3 win against the La Crosse Loggers, giving up three runs on four hits and fanning four batters.
Tonights game is the Luedkte-Storm Mackey 10 Year Anniversary of the 2004 Championship Team Celebration with a Mallards Tumbler Giveaway. There will be a Pre-Game Ring Ceremony for 2013 Championship Team with rings handcrafted by The Diamond Center and Hy-Vee Post-Game Fireworks.
