Green Bay Rockers News Release

Madison, Wis. - The Bullfrogs struggled to get going offensively on Saturday night, as the Mallards jumped out to an early lead and held on late to defeat Green Bay on consecutive nights, winning 3-1. Madison has now won six consecutive contests.

It took the high-powered Madison offense three innings to get on the board, but they could not be denied. Pete Alonso drove in a run on a fielder's choice to open up the Madison scoring. The Mallards tacked on two more in the fourth on an RBI walk to Logan Regnier and another RBI single from Alonso.

The Bullfrogs were able to add a run in the eighth to avoid the shutout. Ivan Vieitez walked with two outs and Ryan Howell doubled him home. Howell has driven in a run in four straight contests; he now has nine RBI's on the season.

The scoring was limited on the night, as there were good pitching performances from both staffs on a rainy, windy night at Warner Park. Rob McDonnell had the best outing of all, pitching 5.2 one-hit innings, walking three and allowing no runs. Dane Hutcheon broke up his no-hitter in the sixth. McDonnell improved to 1-1 on the season with the win Saturday night.

Mike Ellenbest surrendered three runs in 3.2 innings of work for the Bullfrogs, falling to 1-1 on the season. Matt Sabel, Luke Watson, and Dan Becks combined to toss 4.1 innings of scoreless relief out of the bullpen, keeping the Bullfrogs in the game. Becks hit 94 mph on the gun on several occasions in his inning of work.

A.J. Bogucki earned a hold with two innings out of the Mallards bullpen, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four. Tim Black earned his third save of the season, recording the final four outs of the ball game. It was his second save in consecutive nights.
