Calgary Stampeders News Release

(Calgary) - In conjunction with the CFL the Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that Defensive Back Anthony Malbrough has been named the Rogers CFL Defensive Player of the Week for the 1st time this season.

Malbrough showed his athleticism this week vs the Winnipeg Blue Bombers picking up a pair of interceptions along a pair of defensive tackles. Anthony's first pick came early in the first as he picked off a Kevin Glen pass intended for Jamie Stoddard, returning it 20 yards. The second came off a Tee Martin pass intended for Kamau Peterson which Malbrough returned 24 yards. Both of the interceptions resulted in Stampeder touchdowns.

This week the Stampeders will be at home to face the unbeaten B.C. Lions on Friday, August 12 at McMahon Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 8:00 pm (local) and will be live on TSN and QR77 Radio.
