Majors Acquire DeSousa from London

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors have acquired left winger Chris DeSousa from the London Knights for second and fourth round selection in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection..

DeSousa, 20, is in his fifth season in the Ontario Hockey League. The Mississauga native was originally selected by the then, Mississauga IceDogs in the fourth round (63rd overall) in the 2006 OHL Priority Selection. He appeared in 10 games that season for Mississauga and scored his first career OHL point at the Hershey Centre on January 28, 2007. He moved to Niagara with the IceDogs for the 2007-08 season where he became a regular contributor, appearing in 64 games while scoring 23 goals and 13 assists for 36 points. He also served 103 penalty minutes that season. In 2008-09, he increased his point total with 51 points on 33 goals and 18 assists in 67 games. In 2009-10, DeSousa was involved in a trade for the first time in his career when he was dealt from Niagara to the London Knights. Between Niagara and London, Chris appeared in 57 games, scoring 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points. This season, Chris has 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 31 games with the Knights.

The Majors will be in Brampton to face the Battalion on Thursday night. Friday will be the first opportunity for fans to see DeSousa, D'Orazio and Maxim Kitsyn, who already has 5 points in just 2 games, at the Hershey Centre when the Majors square off against the Belleville Bulls at 7:30.
