
Maine Outlasts Erie 102-95

PORTLAND, ME - With six different players scoring in double figures, the Maine Red Claws (22-14) were able to hold off the Erie BayHawks (13-24) for a 102-95 East Conference win in front of a sold-out Portland Expo Building.
Erie was able to pull to within three points of the lead with just 1:43 remaining in regulation, but were unable to get any closer as time winded down.
Russell Robinson set the pace for the Red Claws with a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists to go with five rebounds, while teammate Maurice Ager also tallied a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 boards to earn player of the game honors. Morris Almond also had a strong game for the home team with 18 points and seven rebounds while Darnell Lazare scored 17 points in the win.
After trailing by as much as 13 points in the second quarter, Maine went on a 13-2 run starting at the 10:26 mark to cut the deficit to two (43-41). Both teams would head into the break tied at 54-all before the Red Claws opened up the second half on a 10-2 run to take a 64-56 lead.
Bay Hawks head coach John Treloar was tossed from the game for his remarks towards official Nick Buchert at the 4:50 mark in the fourth quarter after a play where Erie guard Cedric Jackson was injured and had to be helped off the court, but no foul was called against Maine.
John Bryant led all scorers for Erie with 32 points while pulling down 12 rebounds while Jackson scored 19 points before leaving the game.
The Red Claws will return to action on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Fort Wayne while Erie will return home to take on the Iowa Energy on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
