Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho, November 5, 2009 - Your Idaho Stampede announced today they have worked with several non-profit organizations in the area to create a new outdoor mural on Boise's Main Street. The new mural will be installed this Saturday, November 7th beginning at 7:00 am on Main Street between 8th and 9th Streets.

Ten local non-profit organizations participated in the mural project including DECA, St. Jude, Upward, Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho, Make-A-Wish of Idaho, Y.M.C.A., Boys & Girls Club, Boise High School, West Jr. High School and Big Brothers Big Sisters. The groups painted their own panels, with Idaho Stampede basketball as the primary theme using supplies donated by Lumber Products and Home Depot.

"The Idaho Stampede mural project has given the participating Little Sisters and Brothers a great sense of accomplishment," said Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO, Lisa DeDapper. "I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when the panels are installed in Downtown Boise. These are the types of positive experiences that build greater self confidence and a sense of pride in our community's youth."

Each group received $200 for participating in the mural contest. One winner will be selected by a panel of judges during the NBA Development League Showcase hosted by the Idaho Stampede on January 4-7, 2010. The announced winner will receive a cash prize of $800.

Funding for the project was generously provided by the City of Boise, Ada County Highway District, Home Depot, Lumber Products, and WOW Country 104.3.
