Flash take Garret Siler in First Round of 2009 NBA D-League Draft

Orem, Utah, Nov. 5, 2009 - The Utah Flash selected Garret Siler with the fifth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Development League draft. Siler, a 7-foot center out of Augusta State University, spent the NBA preseason with the Atlanta Hawks. Siler averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds per game last season with the Augusta States Jaguars.

"We are very excited to bring a big guy with his potential to the Utah Flash," said Utah Flash Head Coach Brad Jones. "We got to know him through our affiliation with the Hawks, and our trip to their training camp, and we look forward to him having a good year."

The Flash added a multitude of talent to their roster. From the second to eighth round the Flash selected, Orien Greene from the University of Louisiana Lafayette, Kevin Goffney from UT Chattanooga, Jason Richards from Davidson, Sandy, Utah native Joe Darger from UNLV, Travis Holmes from VMI, Alain Laroche from North Florida, and Jordan Brady from Utah Valley University.

Training camp for the Flash opens up Sunday Nov. 15 at the Pinnacle Security Gym. The Flash are on the road for their first five games before returning to Orem for their home opener against the Dakota Wizards December 7. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling (801) 434-HOOP.
