Osceola Magic News Release

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeated the Westchester Knicks 122-120 in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.

Both teams started the game red hot from the field, pouring in 36 points a piece in the opening quarter. Melvin Frazier Jr., on assignment from Orlando, posted 24 points and 3 steals in the first half to lift the Magic to a 65-64 lead at the break.

Lamar Peters and the Knicks took control in the third quarter and lead by 8 points going into the fourth. The Magic trailed by as many as 12 points before a three from Frazier cut the lead to just one. After Ignas Brazdeilkis was called for his second technical foul and ejected from the game, a free throw from Andrew Rowsey tied it up at 120. With just three seconds left in the game, Vic Law hit a buzzer-beater in the lane to win it as time expired.

Lakeland was without both of its Two-Way players, as BJ Johnson and Josh Magette were transferred to the Orlando Magic prior to the game. In his first start with the Magic, Andrew Rowsey had a career night with 33 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Melvin Frazier Jr. finished with 31 points and nine rebounds. Hassani Gravett and Vic Law both added 24 points and multiple big shots down the stretch.

For the Knicks, Lamar Peters scored 29 points and 6 assists. Ignas Brazdeikis, on assignment from the New York Knicks, posted 21 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Kenny Wooten added 18 points and six rebounds.

The Lakeland Magic are back at home again tomorrow night for game two of a back-to-back against the Knicks. Tip-off at the RP Funding Center is at 7:00 pm. The game will be available on NBAGLeague.com
