Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - Michael Madsen made the most of his Triple-A debut on Saturday night, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings as the first-place River Cats defeated the second-place Sidewinders in game one of a pivotal series at Raley Field. Madsen, who allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 in the game, got off to a great start by facing the minimum 12 batters through the game's first 4 innings. He was helped by battery-mate Landon Powell who, in his second Triple-A Game since being called up from Double-A Midland on Thursday, hit his second home run and threw out the only two attempted base-stealers of the night in the first inning. Andrew Brown, activated by the River Cats yesterday after being acquired by the A's from San Diego in return for Milton Bradley, earned his first save of the year.
