TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Omaha Royals are the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. They have been a member of the PCL since 1998. Last year, Omaha finished fourth in American North Division with a 53-91 record.

VS. OMAHA:

The RedHawks are 5-7 against the Royals this season. The Royals swept the RedHawks May 21-24 at Rosenblatt Stadium, outscoring the RedHawks 29-12. The RedHawks and Royals split a 4-game series at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark last week. In '06, the RedHawks won the season series 10-6.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 81 of the season. It's the first of a 4-game series and the 12th of 16 meetings between Oklahoma and Omaha this season. The RedHawks are on a 7-game road trip.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks swept a 3-game series at Iowa, winning 11-3 last night. Iowa led 2-0 going into the fifth inning, then the RedHawks scored nine runs to take control of the game. The RedHawks got at least one hit from eight of nine players in the starting lineup. Drew Meyer led the way for the RedHawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer and two runs scored. John Rheinecker earned his second win of the season, allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings.

PITCHING MATCHUP:

Mark Redman makes his seventh start of the season for the RedHawks. Redman lost to the Royals Sunday at The Brick, allowing eight runs on 12 hits in 5.2 innings. The Royals send Billy Buckner to the mound.

LAST ROAD TRIP:

The RedHawks started eight games on their last road trip but only finished seven. The RedHawks final game at New Orleans was suspended with two outs in the top of the ninth with the RedHawks leading 8-4. All individual stats from the game count but the game doesn't show up in the win-loss column yet. The game will be finished Aug. 19 when the Hawks return to New Orleans.

ROAD BETTER IN JUNE FOR STARTERS:

RedHawk starters are 6-4 with a 4.04 ERA and six quality starts in 11 June road games. This after going 4-9 with a 7.83 ERA in 16 starts on the road in May. For the season, the RedHawks have an ERA of 5.88 on the road.

INHERITING ROADRUNNERS:

The RedHawks' bullpen has allowed only one of 15 inherited runners to score in road games this month. The bullpen has 19 strikeouts in 21.1 innings in those 11 games.

BOTTS STREAKING: Jason Botts

has an 12-game hitting streak coming into tonight after going 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored last night. In June, Botts is hitting .358 with three homers and 18 RBIs.

CRUZING THE PCL:

Cruz has reached base in 20 of 22 games as a RedHawk after going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored last night. Since joining the RedHawks, Cruz is hitting .365 (27-74) with eight home runs and 21 RBIs.

STEWART BEHIND THE PLATE:

The RedHawks are 9-1 in games Chris Stewart starts at catcher. Stewart is hitting .425 (17-40) with a homer and 11 RBIs in 11 games as a RedHawk. He brings a 6-game hitting streak into tonight. He has a hit in 10 of the 11 games he has played.

HAWKS AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS:

Wood leads the PCL with a 2.44 ERA. Botts is second with 29 doubles, he's second with a .422 on-base percentage and tied for fourth with 38 extra-base hits Freddy Guzman is 1st with 23 stolen bases.

ALL-STAR SELECTION:

Wood (7-1, 2.44) was selected as a pitcher to represent Oklahoma and the PCL in the All-Star Game.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 8-4 on Saturdays this season and 16-5 in the first game of a series this season...the RedHawks tied a season-high with their third straight win on the road last night...the Hawks picked up their second sweep of the season last night...the RedHawks outscored the Cubs 32-13 during the 3-game sweep...the nine runs the RedHawks scored in the fifth inning last night are a season-high for runs in an inning...RedHawk starters have made it through the seventh inning four consecutive games, all RedHawk wins...Hawk hitters have drawn the second most walks in the PCL this season with 317.
