Mad Ants Earn Split with Win over Go-Go

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Capital City Go-Go (7-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, were defeated by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 117-106, on Friday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Capital City's offense got off to a hot start in the first quarter, as the team shot .591 from the field and 6-9 from three to lead 37-31. From there, turnovers plagued the offense as Fort Wayne was able to battle back after trailing by as many as 14 in the second quarter. The Mad Ants finished with 30 points off 22 Go-Go turnovers on the night.

Fort Wayne took its first lead of the second half, 70-69, with 9:25 remaining in the third and controlled nearly the rest of the quarter. In the fourth, Capital City was able to tie the game at 100 on an Isaiah Todd dunk with 5:28 remaining, but Fort Wayne immediately responded with an 8-0 run and ended the game on a 9-0 run to earn the victory.

The Go-Go were led by Jordan Schakel's 19 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter. Jaime Echenique and Jordan Goodwin each tallied 16 points, while Joel Ayayi dished 11 of Capital City's 25 assists on the night.

All five starters scored in double-figures for the Mad Ants, led by Justin Anderson's 31 points on 6-11 shooting from three. Nate Hinton added 22 points and eight rebounds and Andrew Rowsey scored 16 points off the bench for Fort Wayne. Ninety-four of Fort Wayne's 117 points were scored by the starters.

The Go-Go will host the College Park Skyhawks next Wednesday, February 9 for an early 11:30 a.m. tip. Fort Wayne will continue its road trip with a visit to Wisconsin on Sunday.
