Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Go-Go Past Mad Ants

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Capital City Go-Go (7-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (3-7) 126-121, on Wednesday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

Capital City were firing on all cylinders, tying a season-high 50 made field goals while shooting 54.3 percent from the field. The Go-Go would also dominate the paint, outscoring the Mad Ants by 24 points (78-54) in the process.

After trailing by two at the end of the first quarter, the Go-Go would score 35 second quarter points, giving them a 61-53 lead at half. Capital City would come out strong in the third quarter, scoring 38 points and growing the Go-Go's lead to as many as 23. Fort Wayne would make a run in the fourth, scoring 40 of the team's 68 second half points in the quarter, and cutting the Go-Go's lead to two with 31.2 seconds left in the game. Free throws by Jordan Shackel would secure the victory for the Go-Go.

The Go-Go were led by center Jaime Echenique's 19 points, eight of which came in the third quarter. Seven other Go-Go players scored in double figures, with Joel Ayayi tallying a season-high 18 points and Isaiah Todd recording 15 points and 12 rebounds, marking his second double-double of the season. Capital City's bench would score a season-high 54 points, with TJ Cline (18 points), Cassius Winston (15 points), DeJon Jarreau (11 points) and Craig Sword (eight points) all being key scoring contributors.

Justin Anderson of the Mad Ants led all scorers with 31 points, 21 of which came in the second half. Nate Hinton (27 points), Gabe York (21 points) and Walt Lemon Jr. (18 points) provided the bulk of the scoring for Fort Wayne.

The game marked the beginning of a three-game home stretch for the Go-Go, who will meet the Mad Ants again on Friday night.
