Lynx Use Long Ball In 6-4 Win Over Syracuse

The Ottawa Lynx hit a season high four homeruns on route to a 6-4 victory over the Syracuse SkyChiefs on Friday night. Eli Whiteside went deep twice for the Lynx, while Andy Tracy and Keith Reed hit solo shots in the win.

The win was the Lynx fourth win in their last five games, and improves Ottawa's record to 20-22 on the season.

Player Of The Game: Ottawa's Eli Whiteside went 2-for-4 with two homers for the Lynx in a winning effort.

Game Recap: The SkyChiefs jumped out to an early lead, scoring a single run in the top of the first inning off of Lynx starter Craig Anderson. The Lynx responded in the bottom of the 3rd when Eli Whiteside blasted his third homer of the year to left to even the game at one. It was Whiteside again in the 5th, launching his second homer of the game to put the Lynx ahead 2-1. For Whiteside it was his third career two-homer game and first since July of 2004 when he was playing for the Bowie Baysox. The SkyChiefs responded in the top of the 6th when Jason Phillips hit a two-out, two-strike three-run homer off of Anderson to give Syracuse a 4-2 lead. The Lynx rallied back in the bottom half, when Andy Tracy launched the Lynx third homer of the game, a solo shot cutting the deficit to 4-3. Two outs later Luis Terrero singled, stole second and came into count with Keith Reed ripped a triple to the wall in right center, evening the game at four. Ottawa regained the lead in the 7th, when Brooks Badeaux worked a leadoff walk, moved to second on Esix Snead's sacrifice bunt and scored one out later when Howie Clark looped a double to shallow left to put Ottawa up 5-4. The Lynx added an insurance run in the 8th when Keith Reed ripped his third homer of the year to left to put Ottawa up by two. RHP Eddy Rodriguez would retire the side in order in the 9th to collect his 6th save of the season in the Ottawa victory.

Next Game: The Lynx welcome the Rochester Red Wings for three games in two days, including a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch of game one is schedule for 6:05 pm.
