Augusta Lynx News Release
With the ECHL All-Star Break upon us and the second half of the season set to begin later this week, the Augusta Lynx today announce three exciting new programs designed to recognize local youth ice hockey players and help promote the area's youth hockey league at the Augusta Ice Sports Center.
In an effort to generate more interest in Augusta's professional hockey team and, more importantly, to showcase the hundreds of local young hockey players, Lynx staff has developed these new programs -- "Future Lynx" Intermission Program, "Youth Hockey Player of the Game" and "Play like the Pros" -- and will soon announce another exciting program involving Lynx players at Augusta Ice Hockey Association games and practices.
2004-05 FUTURE LYNX INTERMISSION PROGRAM
The Future Lynx intermission program gives teams in the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam Divisions from the Augusta Ice Sports Center the opportunity to play a "mini-game" during the intermission of a Lynx home game. All Future Lynx participants receive an autographed Lynx puck, one free ticket to the game, discounted tickets to the game for guests, and the opportunity to raise funds for their team.
The Future Lynx Intermission program will be available on the following dates and will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
Sunday, Feb. 13 vs. Charlotte
Friday, Feb. 18 vs. Greenville
Saturday, Feb. 26 vs. Gwinnett
Sunday, Feb. 27 vs. Greenville
Sunday, March 13 vs. Texas
Tuesday, March 15 vs. Texas
Saturday, March 19 vs. Pensacola
Sunday, April 3 vs. Mississippi
AUGUSTA ICE HOCKEY ASSOCIATION PLAYER OF THE GAME
Beginning with the next home game, Friday February 4 vs. Florida, the Lynx will honor one AIHA Youth Hockey Player of the Game by including the winning player in the Lynx game opening ceremony. The selected player will skate onto the ice, wearing his or her youth team jersey, stand at center ice for the National Anthem, and drop the ceremonial first puck. This honor will be open to all youth hockey players throughout Augusta and will be randomly selected.
"PLAY LIKE THE PROS" Pre-Game Program
The Lynx "Play like the Pros" pre-game program will give youth and adult ice hockey teams the opportunity to play a game at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center prior to a Lynx game. This program will include all of the excitement of an ECHL game including: a tour of the Lynx locker room, player intros, National Anthem, game music and scoreboard use. There is no cost for this program, but each participating team must guarantee a minimum of 50 tickets to the Augusta Lynx game on the night of their game to qualify.
