Three Additions To Dayton Hockey Hall Of Fame

Dayton, OH – Three former members of the Dayton Hockey franchise will be inducted into the Dayton Hockey Hall of Fame Saturday when the Bombers host San Diego at 7:00 PM.

Steve Self: Right Wing, Dayton Gems 1973-77.
• Came to Dayton from Flint of the IHL in November, 1973.
• Scored 149 goals and 296 totals regular season points.
• Sixth on the all time Gems scoring list.
• During the 1974-75 season tallied 103 points on 56 goals and 47 .
• Only one of three to score 50 or more goals (Guy Trottier and Don Westbrooke).
• Captain of the 1975-76 Turner Cup championship team.
• Two-time IHL all-star.

Jamie Ling: Center, Dayton Bombers 1998-2003
• Attended University of Notre Dame
• Scored 132 goals and 383 total regular season points.
• Second on all time Bombers scoring list (Tom Nemeth #1).
• Second on Bombers all time games played list
• Led Bombers in scoring four times.
• Three-time winner of ECHL Sportsmanship award
• Two-time ECHL all-star.

Lyle Stieg: Broadcaster, Dayton Gems, Dayton Bombers
• Began career calling games for Port Huron Flags of the IHL
• ‘Borrowed' by Lefty McFadden from Port Huron to call Gems playoff games in 1966.
• Began broadcasting Gems games in 1967. Continued through 1977.
• Called TV play-by-play for Gems on WHIO-TV.
• One time play-by-play voice of the NHL Washington Capitals
• Play-by-play voice of the Dayton Bombers 1992-93 and 1997-98

The 2005 Induction Ceremony will be held before the opening face-off on Saturday night when the Bombers face San Diego at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available by calling the Bombers office at (937) 775-4748.
