
Gulls/Unity Tech Fitness Center Help Troubled Youth

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Gulls Gulls announced that their mascot will be a part of a Self-Defense Demonstration at the Unity Tech Fitness Center on Thursday at 4:30 pm.
The Unity Tech Fitness Center, located at 5540 El Cajon Blvd. was designed to enhance, enlighten and empower our youth academically, mentally and physically, Participants engage in team-building exercises in addition to incorporating technology, martial arts, mentoring programs and self awareness classes.
The Unity Tech Fitness Center is owned and operated by Eugene Johnson, who is a seasoned community activist dedicated to improving the lives of young adults and their families. Johnson's years as a student and instructor spans more than 29 years. He began his career in Martial Arts at age 12. He achieved one of his goals by holding the rank of 7th degree black belt in June 2001 and was inducted into the International Martial Arts Hall Of Fame on Sept. 1, 2001 in Orlando, Flr.
Johnson is using this demonstration to increase awareness of The Unity Tech Fitness Center in hopes of raising funds to help operate his afterschool program. Johnson is also participating in the Gulls Fundraising program and is currently selling Gulls tickets for the Feb. 11 game against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Some 50 percent of the proceeds from the ticket sales will directly benefitvThe Unity Tech Fitness Center.
The Unity Tech Fitness Center plays a vital role in the community by reaching out and nurturing young adults and their families in San Diego by supplying a safe haven. Participants ranging in ages 4 to 60 benefit from an array of programs offered by this unique "hub".
