Lynx Get Defenseman From Albany

December 15, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx got some help on the blue line today from the American Hockey League's Albany River Rats in the form of 6-4 defenseman Phil Cole.

Assigned to the club by the River Rats, Cole appeared in 11 games with Albany this year, notching no points and 14 PIMs. Originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round, #125 overall of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native has split time between the AHL and ECHL since turning pro in 2002-03. Cole played four games with Albany that year, and 51 with the Columbus Cottonmouths, totaling four goals, nine points, and 141 PIMs between the two teams. Last year he split his time between the River Rats (39 GP 1-3-4 80 PIMs) and Cincinnati Cyclones (12 GP 1-0-1 14 PIMs).

"We're excited to have Phil in our lineup," said Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Stan Drulia. "Having him here definitely makes us better on the blue line heading to Florida for this weekend."

Augusta will head to face the Florida Everblades in a Friday and Saturday weekend set, with both games set for 7:30 pm starts. Pre-game show for both games starts with Tom Callahan on NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630 at 7:05 pm. Game are also broadcast on the internet at www.augustalynx.com or www.sportsjuice.com.
