Nourislamov Called-Up To Syracuse

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Gulls announced Wednesday that defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch.

Nourislamov, 22, began the season in Syracuse's training camp before getting assigned to the Gulls. In 19 games for San Diego this season, he netted 10 points (4g, 6a), which is tied with Andrew Canzanello for the most among team defensemen. His four goals are tied with Nikita Korovkin for the club lead among blue liners.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 200-pound native of Ufa, Russia began his professional career with the Gulls last season, netting 10 points (1g, 9a) in 32 games. Nourislamov ranked third among San Diego defensemen last season with a plus-minus rating of +13 and earned a career-high three assists on March 26 against the Idaho Steelheads.

Prior to his rookie stint, Nourislamov spent three seasons in juniors (QMJHL) where, in his last season (2002-03) he recorded 10 goals and 24 assists.

Nourislamov is expected to re-join the Gulls next week. Goaltender Mathieu Chouinard was called-up to the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on Friday. Forward Sean O'Connor has also spent a chunk of time with Cincinnati this season.

The Gulls take on the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday for the final game of their season-long, nine-game homestand. Wednesday is a ‘Wacky Wednesday Holiday Party' featuring ‘Santas Gone Wild'. Santa Claus will be on to hand out gifts to fans. The Gulls will then travel to British Columbia for a three-game set with the Victoria Salmon Kings. Friday, Saturday and Monday's games are all slated for a 7 p.m. start.
