Despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period, the Augusta Lynx allowed four consecutive goals to the South Carolina Stingrays to drop a 4-3 decision on Saturday afternoon at the Carolina Ice Palace in ECHL pre-season action.

Paul Kelly put the Lynx up 1-0 at the 18:18 mark of the first period with an assist from Jimmy Callahan. Shaun Fisher struck 1:01 into the second period to make it 2-0 followed by a Dan Sullivan marker 4:33 later to give the Lynx a 3-0 lead. Things were looking good for Augusta, but South Carolina would now begin their comeback.

Starting at 8:39 of the second period on Ty Morris' first goal of the night, the Stingrays slowly crept back into the contest. Jeff Legue made it a 3-2 game just before the second period intermission at 18:15 from Cam McCaffrey.

Morris scored again to tie the game on a good individual effort in the third, and at 13:47 John Hecimovic notched the game winner for the Stingrays from Ryan Finnerty and Robyn Gomez.

Jason Wolfe stopped 27 shots over two periods of work for the Lynx, while Cam Ellsworth took the loss with 10 saves on 12 shots in the third period. Rookie netminder Mike Brown played the entire game for the Stingrays, stopping 24 shots for the win.

The Lynx finished the contest 1-for-3 on the power play, while South Carolina ended up 0-for-6.

Augusta will play their final pre-season game in Columbia against the Inferno at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 18th. The contest is free and open to the public, with donations being accepted at the door for the American Red Cross.
