OTTAWA - The Ottawa Lynx are pleased to announce that BERNIE CASTRO has been named the Second Baseman on the International League's post-season All-Star team, as selected by the League's managers, coaches, media and club representatives.

Castro, 25, has had arguably one of the greatest seasons by a single player in the team's 13-year history. Through Monday's game, Castro is fourth in the International League with a .316 batting average, is second in hits (157) and is third in stolen bases (41). The 157 hits establishes a new franchise record for hits in a season, breaking the record of 147 set by Todd Haney in 1993. The switch hitter leads the Lynx with 81 runs scored, which is the second most ever by a Lynx player (F.P. Santangelo - 86 in 1994), while his 41 steals are the third highest total ever by a Lynx player.

Castro joins Tim Laker (1994), Allen Battle (1998) , Endy Chavez (2002) and Joe Vitiello (2002) as one of the five Lynx players in 13 years to be named to the post-season All-Star team.

The Lynx continue their eight-game homestand tonight when Ottawa takes on the Pawtucket Red Sox at 7:05 pm.
