
Knights conquer Braves

Richmond, VA - The Charlotte Knights beat the Richmond Braves 5-3 Tuesday at The Diamond. The Knights erupted for four runs in the fifth inning to earn their seventh win in their last eight games.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Raul Casanova. The Braves tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Andy Marte. In the fifth Charlotte went back in front to stay on a two run double by Ross Gload. Greg Norton smacked a two run homer to make it 5-1. The Braves chipped back on an RBI double by Brayan Pena in the sixth and another Marte sac fly in the eighth. Richmond had the tying run aboard in the ninth but Todd Walker battled out of the jam.
Dennis Ulacia pitched 7.1 innings to earn the win. Walker picked up a save. Chuck James took the loss. Pena and Scott Thorman had two hits for the Braves. Three Braves relievers combined to pitch four no-hit innings. Gload and Jamie Burke had two hits for the Knights.
