Norfolk Tides News Release
August 30, 2005 - Chase Lambin capped off a 4-for-6 night with an RBI single in the bottom of the 13th inning, lifting the Tides over the Durham Bulls 4-3 Tuesday night from Harbor Park.
With Durham having already used six pitchers through 12 innings, Bulls manager Bill Evers summoned catcher Tim Laker (0-1), who had yet to make an appearance on the mound in 2005, in to pitch the 13th inning. Tides outfielder Eric Valent led off the inning with a walk from Laker, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Chris Basak then sacrificed Valent to third, and Lambin lifted a fly ball to deep center field that scored Valent and gave the Tides their second straight win after seven straight losses.
The 13 inning game and 3 hour and 38 minute time of game were both season-highs for Norfolk.
Two of Lambin's four hits were doubles, which gave the Tides a total of 264 doubles on the season. That number surpasses the previous franchise record of 262, set during the 1987 season.
Norfolk takes on Durham again on Wednesday night from Harbor Park, with first pitch set for 7:15.
