
Lynchburg Wins Over Wood Ducks, 2-0

Down East Wood Ducks News Release
Kinston, N.C. - After several tarp pulls, thunder bolts, and lightning the Wood Ducks and Hillcats were able to play and finish Game 4 of the series. Lynchburg stranded one runner in the top of the first after Genao hit a single line drive to center field. The Wood Ducks went three up, three down.
Similar to the first inning, in the second inning the Hillcats stranded one, and the Wood Ducks again went three up, three down. Third time still wasn't a charm, as Lynchburg stranded a base runner, and the Wood Ducks were unable to get a hit. After three innings the game was tied 0-0.
The roles flipped in the fourth inning with the Hillcats going three up, three down and the Wood Ducks stranding a base runner after a single by Lopez. Lynchburg stranded two runners in the fifth inning both by walks. Alvarez doubles on a line drive to right field in the bottom of the fifth but was left stranded after back-to-back strikeouts. Knapczyk singled on a line drive to left field for Lynchburg and stole second base on a wild pitch, but was ultimately left stranded. The Wood Ducks went three up, three down. After 6 innings, the game was still tied 0-0.
Lynchburg goes three up, three down on a strikeout, groundout, and pop out to start the 7th inning.
The Wood Ducks start off the bottom of the 7th with a line drive single to left field from Lopez. Disla hit into a double play followed by a shallow fly out from Smith to end the inning. The Hlillcats started off the top of the 8th inning with Hawke reaching on a fielding by the Wood Ducks third baseman (Alvarez). Hawke scores on a double line drive to right field by Gonzalez and then stole third. Gonzalez scored on a sacrifice to right field by Chourio. Torres hits a one out line drive single for the Woodies. But the Wood Ducks weren't able to get anything else going and Torres was left stranded on first. Lynchburg went up 2-0 in the 8th inning. The Hllcats go three up, three down in the top of the 9th. The Wood Ducks start off the bottom of the 9th with a walk to Mendez, but he is left stranded after two strikeouts and a groundout. Lynchburg won 2-0.
Brito earned the win (2.0 IP, 1 H, & 1 K), while Jachec earned the save (2.0 IP, 1 H, & 3 K) for the Hillcats. Gonzalez was given the loss for the Wood Ducks after pitching 5 innings with 2 hits and 5 strikeouts. Lynchburg finished the game with 2 runs on 5 hits with no errors. While the Wood Ducks finished with 0 runs on 4 hits with 1 error.
The Wood Ducks host the Lynchburg Hillcats for game 5 tomorrow at Historic Grainger Stadium located in Kinston, North Carolina. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm. Gates open at 4:00 pm.
