Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
WILMINGTON, Del. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans' offense was flattened by Daniel Lynch and the Wilmington Blue Rocks staff in a 2-1 defeat on Saturday from Frawley Stadium.
Lynch (4-2) earned the win for Wilmington (30-19), allowing just five hits over his seventh shutout innings, striking out seven and just walking one batter.
His offense backed him in the second inning when Brewer Hicklen lined a two-run single into left, scoring Nick Pratto and MJ Melendez, to make it 2-0 Blue Rocks.
The Pelicans' (18-32) lone run came in the top of the eighth. Zach Davis led off the inning with a single before he was wild pitched to second, third and home to make it 2-1 Wilmington.
Luis Lugo (1-2) was strong in his start, allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out four and walking three, but he took the loss. Jesus Camargo threw two perfect innings with a pair of strikeouts in the loss out of the bullpen for Myrtle Beach.
