Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks got a two-run single from Brewer Hicklen and seven scoreless innings from Daniel Lynch as they topped the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 2-1 on Saturday at Frawley Stadium. The victory moved the Rocks to 11 games over .500 which equals their best mark of the season.

The Rocks got both of their runs thanks to a fast start to the second inning. Nick Pratto worked a lead-off walk and then MJ Melendez singled. After Seuly Matias drew a free pass to load the bases, Hicklen snuck a grounder into left that plated both Pratto and Melendez.

Hicklen's hit was all the offense Wilmington would need thanks to Lynch. The lefty was dominant for a third straight start, allowing just five hits while fanning seven and walking only one. He allowed just two runners to reach scoring position all night.

Myrtle Beach starter Luis Lugo allowed just three hits in six innings to take the tough-luck loss. Tyler Zuber allowed a run, but preserved the lead to earn his eighth save of the season.

The Rocks continue their homestand on Sunday against the Pelicans. Kris Bubic takes the mound in his Advanced-A debut as first pitch is slated for 1:35 P.M. Fans can get tickets at BlueRocks.com or catch all the action with the Voice of the Blue Rocks, Cory Nidoh on 89.7 WGLS-FM.
