Winston-Salem Dash News Release

SALEM, Va. - Thanks to a season-best effort at the plate, the Dash crushed the Salem Red Sox 17-3 on Saturday night at Haley Toyota Field.

Winston-Salem's (25-23) 17 runs were the most for the club this season. The Dash's performance on Saturday also marked the first time since July 20, 2018, at Carolina that the franchise scored 17 runs in a game.

Tyler Frost and Jameson Fisher each had four hits, and JJ Muno and Evan Skoug recorded three hits apiece. Muno drove in a career-high five runs while Skoug drove in four.

After never leading in the series opener on Friday, the Dash took the early advantage in the second. With one out against Dylan Thompson (0-3), Muno and Skoug stroked back-to-back singles to put runners on first and third. Then, Yeyson Yrizarri and Frost followed with run-scoring singles to make it a 2-0 contest.

Edgar Corcino immediately responded in the bottom of the second with a solo shot against Cristian Castillo (3-5), who was otherwise strong in his ninth start of the season. The left-hander went six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run in the win while striking out eight.

Winston-Salem went back up by two runs in the third. Fisher reached on a single and an error, and, after advancing to third, he scored on a wild pitch by Thompson to put the Dash ahead 3-1.

In the fifth, Winston-Salem started to pull away for good, as Craig Dedelow and Muno stroked sacrifice flies to put the Dash up four.

After Zach Remillard upped his on-base streak to 25 games with a two-run single in the seventh, Winston-Salem took complete control in the eighth. After a sacrifice fly from Steele Walker and an RBI walk from Muno, Skoug hit a grand slam to right to cap the six-run frame and make it a 13-2 lead.

Winston-Salem added its final runs of the night in the ninth, with Fisher smacking an RBI double and Muno drilling a three-run triple to right-center.

In the win, Wyatt Burns earned his first High-A save by tossing three innings and allowing one run against the Red Sox (18-29).

The Dash continue their four-game set against the Salem Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Haley Toyota Field.
