(Portland, ME) - The Trenton Thunder (40-30) could not overcome the loud bats of the Portland Sea Dogs (24-43) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field in Maine as the Sea Dogs rolled to a 13-5 victory over the Thunder. The lone bright spots for the Thunder were Rob Lyerly's three-hit, two-RBI night in his Double A debut and Jose Gil's fifth homerun of the season. Now four games into a season-long nine-game road swing, the Thunder have won just one contest.

Trailing the Sea Dogs 3-0 entering the top of the third inning, the Thunder lit-up their section of the Hadlock Field scoreboard for the first time in the game. On the first pitch of the frame, Jose Gil lined a Brock Huntzinger offering over the Maine Monster in left field to cut into the Sea Dog three-run lead. After Ray Kruml drew a walk and Corban Joseph singled, Rob Lyerly, making his Double A debut, smacked a double off of the wall in centerfield, scoring Kruml to bring the Thunder one run closer at 3-2.

From that point, the Sea Dogs scored ten unanswered runs to take total control of the game. The Thunder added a run in each of the last three frames, but the Sea Dogs more than held on to win the contest 13-5. Four games into this season-long nine-game road trip, Thunder pitchers have now surrendered 38 runs.

The Thunder will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when game two of the three-game set takes place at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Trenton will turn to RHP Alan Horne (0-0, 0.00), who is making his 2011 debut with the Thunder. Portland will counter with RHP Alex Wilson (5-4, 3.16). Tune-in to the game on 91.3 WTSR-FM and on trentonthunder.com. The SBLI Pre-Game Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 6:45 PM.
