NEW BRITAIN, CT - Deibinson Romero crushed a three-run homer in the sixth inning to power the Rock Cats to a 6-5 victory over Bowie. It was the fourth-straight win for the ‘Cats.

Bowie took the 1-0 advantage in the first inning. Xavier Avery opened the game by dropping a single into left field off of starting pitcher Liam Hendriks. LJ Hoes followed with a one-out single that put Avery at second. Avery moved to third when Joe Mahoney grounded into a force out that retired Hoes at second. Caleb Joseph then grounded to shortstop Brian Dozier for an apparent inning-ending play but a throwing error by Dozier allowed Avery to cross the plate for the first run of the game.

Richard Zagone retired the first nine straight batters before Dozier led off the bottom of the fourth with a base hit into center field. Nathan Hanson followed with a double before Dozier scored on Chris Parmelee's groundout to second to tie the game.

The Baysox regained the lead in the fifth courtesy of a sacrifice RBI by Mahoney that knocked in Bruce Britton, who had reached on a double. The Rock Cats answered back in the bottom of the inning when Mark Dolenc led off with a base hit and scored on Daniel Rohlfing's one-out single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Parmelee drew a walk to leadoff the inning and Yangervis Solarte moved him to third with a one-out double. Dolenc then hit a ball back to Zagone who fired to third baseman and caught Parmelee in a rundown between third and home. Parmlee was eventually caught at third but Solarte slid safely into third as Parmelee was called out. Romero then brought the crowd to its feet with a shot over the left field wall to put the Rock Cats on top, 5-2.

Parmelee added an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Hendriks (7-2) didn't appear to be as sharp on the mound as usual in the early parts of the game but he still limited the Baysox to two runs - one earned - on eight hits in seven innings. He struck out six.

The Baysox struck for two runs off of reliever Tony Davis in the eighth, including an RBI double by Mahoney. In the ninth, Bowie managed three hits and a run against closer Tyler Robertson to come within one but that was all the Robertson would allow as he forced a long fly out to center to end the game. He picked up his eighth save.

Zagone (2-6) was charged with six runs on eight hits through 6 2/3 innings. He struck out two. For Bowie, Hoes finished the night a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate.

ALLSTATE PLAYER OF THE GAME: 3B Deibinson Romero went 1-for-3 at the plate but his lone hit was a go-ahead three-run home run the sixth inning.
