(Manchester, NH)- Henderson Alvarez blanked Altoona on two hits over seven innings and Callix Crabbe drove in the game's only run with a sixth inning double as the Fisher Cats topped Altoona 1-0 before the largest crowd of the season, 8,317, on Tuesday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The crowd, the fifth largest all-time, saw both starting pitchers have tremendous outings. Alvarez improved to 4-2, allowing just two hits. He walked one and struck out. Evan Crawford worked around a walk in the eighth inning without allowing a run before Bobby Korecky finished off New Hampshire's eighth shutout of the season working the ninth. Korecky picked up his fourth save of the season.
Altoona's Mike Colla (4-3) worked seven innings, allowing two hits and one run. He walked one and struck out five.
The Fisher Cats (42-27) scored the run in the top of the sixth inning. John Tolisano walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Crabbe's double off the wall in right field scored Tolisano. It was also the first hit of the night for New Hampshire.
Altoona (34-36) threatened in the top of the ninth inning with singles by Starling Marte and Kris Watts. But Korecky struck out Tony Sanchez and Matt Curry to end the game.
