New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League restored Infielder Brian Dozier to their active roster last Sunday (6/19).

The 24-year-old Fulton, MS resident was placed on the club's Disabled List after having been struck on the left cheek by a pitched ball on June 9th while batting against Akron at New Britain Stadium. Despite suffering broken bones in his face, the 5'11"/190-pound University of Southern Mississippi product returned to action just 10 days later; he started at Shortstop for the Rock Cats on Sunday afternoon against Reading in Pennsylvania. Sunday's action was just his fourth game in a New Britain uniform.

Ranked by Baseball America as the #30 Prospect in the entire Minnesota system, Dozier was batting .375 at the time of his injury. He was 0-for-3 in his return on Sunday afternoon against the R-Phils. The courageous Dozier is slated to start again tonight when the Rock Cats open a 6-game Homestand against Bowie at New Britain Stadium.
