
'Wolves Back Over .500 With Win at Reading

The SeaWolves won their third straight game on Tuesday night as they climbed back over the .500 mark for the first time since April 26 with a 4-1 win over the Reading Phillies at First Energy Stadium.
The SeaWolves struck first against Reading starter B.J. Rosenberg in the top of the first. Jamie Johnson and Gustavo Nunez led off with back-to-back singles. Francisco Martinez singled to left, plating Johnson for a 1-0 Erie lead. Michael Bertram followed and was hit by a pitch loading the bases. With one out, Michael Rockett singled to center, scoring Nunez for a 2-0 lead. Brandon Douglas followed with a sacrifice fly to left, bringing home Martinez for a 3-0 Erie lead.
The Phillies got on the board in the bottom of the third against Erie starter Brooks Brown. Freddy Galvis doubled to right and moved to third on a Brian Schneider groundout. Galvis scored on a wild pitch making it a 3-1 game.
Erie added a run in the top of the fifth. Johnson led off and singled for his second hit of the game and stole second getting into scoring position. Johnson moved to third on a Nunez groundout and scored on a Martinez single for a 4-1 Erie lead.
The three runs were enough for the Erie pitching staff which was led by the starter Brown who won his first game of the season. Brown (1-1) went seven solid innings, allowing a run on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Luis Marte worked a scoreless eighth and Austin Wood worked a scoreless ninth picking up his third save in as many opportunities. Wood has not allowed a run over the last eight outings and his last 9.1 innings pitched.
The SeaWolves will look for the series win as they take on the Phillies in game three of a four-game series on Wednesday night at First Energy Stadium...7:05 First Pitch. LHP Jay Voss (2-2, 4.40 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP J.C. Ramirez (5-6, 4.31 ERA).
