Lutz Named CHL All-Star Alternate Captain

RAPID CITY, SD --- The Central Hockey League (CHL) has announced the captains for the CHL All-Star team, set to take the ice tonight against the Rapid City Rush in the annual classic. Mississippi RiverKings defenseman Nathan Lutz has been selected to be one of the captains for this year's All-Star team.

Lutz, in his first year in the CHL and with the RiverKings, will be one of the two alternate captains for the All-Star in the game, scheduled to start at 7:35 PM Central time at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena in Rapid City. Tulsa Oilers defenseman Derek Eastman is the other defenseman with Sebastien Thinel of the Odessa Jackalopes to be the team captain this evening.

A majority of Lutz's career has been spent in the American Hockey League. His 29 points (8-21=29) are second among all defensemen in the CHL. He is also among the league leaders for assists, power play goals, and power play assists by a defenseman.

Fans can watch tonight's game through the CHL-TV webcasting service for $7.00 through the RiverKings' web site. Click the "Watch Live" button to access the CHL-TV web site. Odessa' Brien Rea and Brian Lavelle of Quad City will provide the coverage for CHL-TV.

Radio coverage of tonight's game in the Rapid City area is being provided on KFXS-FM Classic Rock Fox 103. An audio stream of the game is available through the station web site at www.newrushmoreradio.com/kfxs. Rapid City broadcaster Daniel Nieves will be joined by RiverKings Media Coordinator Bob Bakken on the call this evening.

Next action for the RiverKings will be Friday, January 14th, when Mississippi starts a three-game weekend at Missouri, a game that starts at 7:05 PM. Saturday, January 15th, the RiverKings play at Evansville at 7:35 PM, and on Sunday, January 16th, Mississippi finishes the road trip in a 4 PM (Central time) game at Fort Wayne.

Broadcast coverage for all three games will be available on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM and www.sports56whbq.com at 6:50 PM Friday, 7:20 PM Saturday, and Sunday at 3:45 PM. Fans can also watch the game on CHL-TV, with an Away Game Watch Party set for Friday night at the Southaven Buffalo Wild Wings.

Next home action for the RiverKings will be on Tuesday, January 18th, against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the DeSoto Civic Center. Game time is 7:05 PM and Hockey For Humanity is the night's featured non-profit MVP.
