DAYTON, OH - Former NBA star A.C. "Iron Man" Green will speak prior to the Dayton Gems game against Wichita on Friday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Green will speak about the importance of self-esteem and character and how the two can help young people achieve their lifelong goals. He will also discuss how his faith helped him throughout his NBA career.

Following his speech, there will be an open table discussion with Green. Anyone in attendance can ask Green questions about his career, faith and personal life.

Green will also be out on the ice just before the start of the game for a ceremonial puck drop. During the game, Green will be available for autographs during intermission.

Throughout his career, Green has made multiple trips to the Dayton to speak about similar topics. He has also made trips to other Ohio cities, including Cleveland and Columbus.

"I'm really looking forward to coming to Dayton and talking with everyone. I look forward to having a good time and hopefully we can all see the Gems get a win."

Green played for five NBA teams during his professional career that spanned from 1986-2001. During his career, he was known as the NBA's "Iron Man." Green played in 1,192 consecutive games from 1987-2001. His consecutive game streak is the longest in NBA history.

Green is a 3-time NBA Champion. Green won all of his championships while playing for the L.A. Lakers. Green and the Lakers won back-to-back championships in 1987 and 1988. He then won his final championship in 2000.

Following the 2000 season, Green went to the Miami Heat and retired at the end of the season.

In addition to his playing career, Green is also well known around the country for starting the A.C. Green Foundation.

The A.C. Green Foundation is centered around the belief that young people must develop morally, ethically, educationally, physically, and mentally to fulfill their dreams and goals in life. The underlying theme of the foundation is to have each person accept one another for who they are.

Green has spent a countless amount of time traveling and sharing his message with young people across the nation.

Throughout the 20 years the foundation has been in existence, Green has seen family, friends and complete strangers go out of their way to contribute to the foundation and make it a success.

"Without the help of everyone involved, this thing (the foundation) would have never made it past year two," said Green. "It's no secret that a lot of people have had a tough time with the economy recently, but people are still making sacrifices and contributing in any way they can. For those sacrifices to help make the foundation a success, I am very thankful."

Fans that come to the game will also be able to sing along with live music that will be played throughout the evening.
