
Rutherford to Start Tonight's CHL All-Star Game

RAPID CITY, SD - Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward David Rutherford will take the opening faceoff for tonight ¬â¢s 2011 Central Hockey League All-Star Game, which is set for 7:35 pm Central Time in Rapid City, South Dakota. Rutherford will represent the Mudbugs after being voted into the starting lineup for this year ¬â¢s contest, which is being hosted by the Rapid City Rush.
In his first career All-Star appearance tonight, Rutherford will team up with players from the 17 other CHL clubs to comprise the 2011 CHL All-Star team, which takes on the host Rapid City Rush tonight at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

In becoming the first Mudbug to start the CHL All-Star Game since John DeCaro in 2008, Rutherford received the most votes of any forward and the second-most of any player from the league ¬â¢s coaches, communications staffs and media members.
A native of Ladner, British Columbia, Rutherford leads the league with 22 goals this season and ranks third with five game-winners. He has tacked on 19 assists to give him 41 points this year, a total which ties him for 10th in the CHL. The second-year Mudbug also has seven multi-goal games this season and has recorded multiple points in six of his last 11 contests going into the All-Star break.
Following tonight ¬â¢s All-Star Game, Rutherford will re-join the Mudbugs for a pair of road games this weekend: Friday in Allen and Saturday at Tulsa. Friday ¬â¢s game against the Americans will be broadcast on AM 1130 KWKH, while Saturday ¬â¢s tilt vs. the Oilers can be heard on News Radio 710 KEEL.
The ¬ËBugs will then travel to Mississippi next Tuesday before returning home for the first time in three weeks to face the Dayton Gems next Thursday at 6:35 pm at the CenturyTel Center.
