Lansing Lugnuts News Release

CLINTON, IA - The Clinton LumberKings (13-11; 37-57) sent their entire starting lineup to the plate in the 7th inning, first as batters and then as baserunners, using a nine-run rally to stun the Lansing Lugnuts (15-9; 53-38) in an 11-5 rout on Monday afternoon at Alliant Energy Field.

The Lugs finished their season-long nine-game, ten-day road trip to Lake County, Kane County and Clinton with a satisfying 7-2 record, although they were not at all satisfied with how the trip concluded.

Lugnuts relievers Dayton Marze (Loss, 3-5) started the frame with the Lugnuts leading 5-2, but departed after allowing three singles and a pair of walks, the last with the bases loaded. Shawn Griffith walked in a second straight run to tie the game at 5-5 before serving up a two-run Robbie Anston double and a two-run Mike McGee single to break the game open.

The ninth batter of the frame was first baseman Mickey Wiswall, who applied the icing on the cake with a two-run homer to right-center.

Clinton right-hander Matt Bischoff (Win, 1-2) pitched three innings in relief of starter Taijuan Walker, allowing only Michael Crouse's 11th homer of the season leading off the 7th.

The touted Walker gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks in five innings, striking out four, as the Lugnuts built an early lead.

In his Lansing debut, catcher Luis Hurtado went 2-for-4 with a two-run single.

The Lugs enjoy a league-wide day off on Tuesday before getting back in action at Cooley Law School Stadium on Wednesday, July 20, at 12:05 p.m. taking on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on a Summer Fun Day. Lansing left-hander Sean Nolin (2-2, 3.60) opposes Rattlers right-hander Matt Miller (3-4, 4.76) in the starting matchup.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
