South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

Appleton, WI - With a 9-3 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Monday afternoon, the South Bend Silver Hawks wrap up their nine game road trip with a 4-5 record. While not great, the record is still better than when the Hawks went 3-6 on the nine game first half road trip.

The Timber Rattlers used the long ball to defeat South Bend on Monday, getting two home runs from Greg Hopkins on the afternoon. Hopkins hit a solo shot against Tyler Green (LP, 3-5) in the second inning and then he hit a two-run blast against Patrick Schuster (ND) as part of a five-run seventh inning. Hopkins finished the game with three hits and four RBIs to lead the Wisconsin offensive attack.

Wisconsin also received a solo home run from Chad Stang in the fifth and a two RBI single from Mike Walker in the seventh. After four hours and 49 minutes of game time on Sunday, the Timber Rattlers offense showed a lot more life than South Bend on Monday.

Green was charged with three runs in five innings for South Bend, while Schuster had the worst outing of his season, giving up six runs in 2.0 innings.

The Silver Hawks were held without a hit by Brooks Hall (WP, 5-2) until two outs in the seventh. That's when Zach Walters broke through with a double to center and Yazy Arbelo followed with a RBI single to put South Bend on the board. Walters added a two run homer in the ninth inning, his ninth of the season, to put the final margin at 9-3.

After an off day on Tuesday, the Silver Hawks begin a home stand on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM Eastern Time, welcoming in the Clinton LumberKings (Seattle Mariners). RHP Mike Bolsinger (2-4, 2.96 ERA) will be on the mound for the Silver Hawks against Clinton's LHP Tony Butler (1-0, 1.62 ERA). Pre-game coverage begins at 6:40 PM Eastern Time on www.sportsjuice.com and www.silverhawks.com.
