PEORIA, Ill. - The TinCaps finished their first series sweep of the season, topping the Peoria Chiefs, 5-3 in ten innings, Monday at O'Brien Field. RHP Keyvius Sampson delivered six shutout innings and Rymer Liriano clubbed an extra-inning homer.

The win is Fort Wayne's fourth in a row, tying their longest win streak of the year.

The game was scoreless through six innings thanks to Sampson and Chiefs RHP Matt Loosen. In the seventh, a Connor Powers double and a walk set the stage for a two-out, two-run single by Emmanuel Quiles which opened the scoring.

In the eighth, Luis Domoromo slapped a single which plated Liriano to make it 3-0.

The Chiefs rallied in the bottom of the eighth; they loaded the bases on three straight singles, then Richard Jones lined a two-run single to right to cut the lead to 3-2. Jones was cut down trying to advance to second, then Elliot Soto doubled down the left-field line to plate Ryan Cuneo with the tying run.

In the ninth, the Chiefs threatened when Taiwan Easterling led off with an infield hit and went to second when the throw to first was wild. But when the next batter bunted, Easterling was thrown out between second and third and a double play ended the inning.

The TinCaps took the lead in the tenth. Cory Spangenberg reached on a leadoff error. As Spangenberg took off stealing second base, LHP Frankie Del Valle tossed to first, but the throw was high and caromed into the bullpen. Spangenberg raced all the way around to score the go- ahead run. On the next pitch, Liriano clobbered a home run well over the left-field wall to make it a 5-3 game. The Chiefs advanced the tying run to scoring position in the bottom of the inning but could not score.

RHP Chris Franklin (2-1) received the win. Del Valle (0-2) absorbed the loss.

The TinCaps evened their record at 12-12 in the half, 42-51 for the season and went 7-2 on the road trip. The Chiefs dipped to 9-15 since the all-star break, 42-52 for the year.

The TinCaps open a three-game home series against the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Class-A Los Angeles Angels) Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne LHP Mark Hardy (6-7) goes to the mound against Kernels RHP Heath Nichols (6-5).
