CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Cedar Rapids Kernels lost their final game of the homestand to the Dayton Dragons, 6-4, Monday afternoon at Perfect Game Field. Dakota Robinson (7-2) took the loss for the Kernels, giving up an earned run and four hits over 1.2 innings. Chad Rogers (3-4) earned the win, pitching 1.1 of one-hit baseball out of the bullpen for the Dragons.

The scoring was back-and-forth, with each team answering after the other got on the scoreboard. Cedar Rapids struck first, scoring a run in the second inning on an RBI single by catcher Carlos Lugo. Juan Duran got the Dragons on the scoreboard in the third, tying the ballgame with a solo home run to left field. Dayton took the lead in the fourth inning after Ronald Torreyes scored on a Tucker Barnhart sacrifice fly.

Jean Almanzar tied the game, 2-2, in the bottom of the fourth when he hit a sacrifice fly of his own, scoring Brandon Decker. But the Dragons answered right back, scoring a pair of runs off of Kernels starter Max Russell in the fifth to make the score 4-2. Ronald Torreyes drove home Billy Hamilton on a RBI single, and Torreyes crossed home plate on a double by Dominic D'Anna.

Cedar Rapids tied the game after hitting solo home runs in back-to-back innings. Ricky Alvarez hit his eighth home run of the year in the fifth inning and Travis Witherspoon tied the ballgame at four with his eighth homer in the sixth.

Neither team scored in the seventh or eighth innings, but Dayton added a pair of runs in the ninth to take a 6-4 lead in the game. Donald Lutz's single scored Dominic D'Anna and Tucker Barnhart hit his second sacrifice fly of the ballgame, giving the Dragons a two run lead heading to the bottom of the ninth. The two run lead was all the Dragons needed to win the ballgame and take the series.
