Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING, Mich. - K.C. Hobson lined a three-run homer off the right field foul pole to cap a five-run fourth inning and propel the Lansing Lugnuts (37-14) to a 10-9 victory over the Lake County Captains (25-26) on Tuesday night on Jackson Field.
The Lugnuts scored 59 runs and hit .363 as a team during their seven-game homestand in which they went 6-1.
Hobson hit his fourth home run of the year in the fourth inning off Luis DeJesus (Loss, 1-0) to break a 7-7 tie. Before Hobson's long ball, Chris Hawkins smashed an RBI triple in the inning as part of a 1-for-5 evening. Also, Kevin Pillar beat out an infield RBI single in the frame in the midst of a 2-for-5 game.
Carlos Perez went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Andy Burns also went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
The Lugnuts had to comeback from a four-run third inning deficit after the Lugnuts starter David Rollins gave up five runs on four hits over 1 2/3 innings before reliever Eric Brown surrendered a pair of tallies in his one inning of work.
Aleson Escalante (Win, 1-0) settled things down for the Lugnuts by extinguishing a two-out third inning jam on his way to a scoreless, two-hit, 3 2/3 inning performance.
Ajay Meyer (Save, 18) recorded his Midwest League-Leading 18th save this season with a perfect ninth inning.
The Lugnuts begin a six-game road trip in Bowling Green on Wednesday, May 30th at 8:05 p.m. The Lugnuts send Marcus Walden (3-1, 2.56) to the mound opposite righty Parker Markel (1-2, 6.29) to open the three-game series against the Hot Rods.
The Lugnuts will return home for a six-game homestand beginning on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:05 p.m. with a Ladies night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
