Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Fort Wayne, IN - Jake Hager's first home run of the season sent the Bowling Green Hot Rods (28-24) to an 8-2 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (24-28) on Tuesday night at Parkview Field. The Hot Rods erupted for four runs in the fifth inning to secure just their second road series win of the year. Felipe Rivero won his third game of the trip for the Hot Rods, who finished the ten-game trip 5-5, taking three of four from Fort Wayne.
Bowling Green took the lead early in the game thanks to second baseman Juniel Querecuto. After Glaesmann walked with one out and Sale singled, Querecuto lined a two-out double down the line in left field to clear the bases and give the Hot Rods the early 2-0 lead. The two-bagger was Querecuto's seventh of the season.
Leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, the Hot Rods offense brought eight men to the plate and scored four times to pad their lead. The Hot Rods hit for the team cycle in order to begin the inning. Querecuto singled to centerfield; Tyler Goeddel doubled down the line in left field; Ryan Brett tripled to deep left-centerfield; and Hager hit the two-run home run to left field. The big inning was the fifth time in this four-game series in which the Hot Rods scored at least three runs.
Bowling Green starter Felipe Rivero dominated the TinCaps to pick up his fifth win of the season and his third win of the ten-game road trip. The lone run the Rivero surrendered was a solo home run to Lee Orr, his seventh in 14 games with Fort Wayne. Andrew Bellatti hurled the final three innings to grab his third save of the season and secure the series win.
With the ten-game road trip behind them, the Hot Rods return home to Bowling Green Ballpark on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM CDT to begin a six-game homestand and a three-game series with the Lansing Lugnuts (Future Blue Jays). The Hot Rods will send RHP Parker Markel (1-2, 6.29) to the mound, while the Lugnuts will counter with RHP Marcus Walden (3-1, 2.56). Tune in to the game on 1340 "The Ticket" and online at 1340wbgn.com. Join Hank Fuerst for the Forever Comm-unications Pregame Show on the Hot Rods Radio Network at 6:45 PM CDT.
Wednesday night is Come As One Night at Bowling Green Ballpark where a non-denominational faith event will be held at 6:00 PM before the game at 7:05 PM.
