MIDLAND, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (5-3, 37-40) scored three runs in the eleventh inning to pick up a 6-4 win over the Great Lakes Loons (4-4, 38-40) on Friday night at Dow Diamond.

Lansing's Dawel Lugo and Dickie Joe Thon led off the eleventh with back-to-back singles, and Daniel Klein hit a sacrifice fly to plate the go-ahead run. Left fielder David Harris followed with a two-run home run to give the Lugnuts a 6-3 lead against Great Lakes reliever Jacob Rhame (Loss, 3-3).

In the bottom of the eleventh, Great Lakes left fielder Alex Santana hit a solo home run to close the deficit to two, but Lansing closer Griffin Murphy (Save, 14) finished off the frame to extend his Midwest League saves lead.

After surrendering a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Lansing pitching staff combined for nine consecutive scoreless frames while the offense chipped away at the lead to force extra innings.

The Lansing comeback began in the second inning when right fielder Derrick Loveless drilled the right field foul pole with a solo home run, his third of the season.

Center fielder D.J. Davis hit an RBI single in the fifth inning and tied the game with a solo home run in the eighth, his team-high sixth this year.

Lansing's bullpen kept the Loons off of the scoreboard to keep the Lugnuts within striking distance. Matt Dermody worked three scoreless frames, and Roberto Espinosa fanned three in two innings, allowing one hit and one walk.

Scott Silverstein (Win, 8-3) tied for the Midwest League wins lead, pitching three innings with one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts. The left-hander worked out of a two-on, one-out jam in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Great Lakes starting pitcher Brandon Martinez allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and ten strikeouts.

In his first start since returning from the disabled list, Lansing starter Brad Allen worked two innings, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

The Lugnuts and Loons play the second of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday at Dow Diamond. Lansing ace Jeremy Gabryszwski (5-2, 3.35) will start on the mound, with righty Scott Barlow (2-2, 3.99) pitching for Great Lakes.
