
Lugnuts and Wizards Suspended

LANSING - The Fort Wayne Wizards and Lansing Lugnuts played a back-and-forth game Saturday night at Oldsmobile Park, but the contest will have to be completed Sunday afternoon after it was suspended by strong thunderstorms and lightning in the ninth inning.
The game will be picked up in the bottom half of the ninth inning with a runner at first for the Lugnuts with no men out and Lansing trailing 6-5.
The Wizards scored a run in the top half of the ninth inning when Yefri Carvajal dropped a double into the right field corner, plating Justin Baum from first base to give Fort Wayne the lead.
Lansing had a 2-0 after the first inning when Matt Liuzza laced a two-run double down the right field line.
The Wizards cut it to a 2-1 game before scoring three times in the third to take the lead. The first run of the inning scored Matt Liuzza's throw on a double steal attempt went into center field, allowing Luis Durango to score, tying the game at 2-2. Baum then doubled in order to plate Lance Zawadzki, making it a 3-2 lead for Fort Wayne. Carvajal would add an RBI double of his own to cap the frame at 4-2.
The Lugnuts put a run up in the third before scoring twice in the fourth to regain the lead. Raul Barron started the inning with a triple and scored when Eric Eiland reached on a three-base error by Carvajal in left field. Darin Mastroianni's sacrifice fly gave the Lugnuts the lead at 5-4.
Lansing and Fort Wayne will finish the contest beginning at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, with the regularly scheduled nine inning game to follow.
Sunday is Lansing Board of Water & Light Autograph Day with gates opening at 12:30 p.m. for a 30 miniute autograph session with the entire Lugnuts roster. It will also be Kids Day with Pepsi Kids Run the Bases following the game.
