Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Will Savage pitched brilliantly for the Lookouts, while Scott Van Slyke hit what turned out to be a game-winning solo shot in the sixth inning to lead Chattanooga to a 3-2 win over the Jackson Generals in Saturday night action at AT&T Field. Chattanooga jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. Brian Cavazos-Galvez nailed a double with one out. Travis Denker then hit a ball to third baseman Leury Bonilla, who proceeded to make an errant throw. Due to the error, Cavazos-Galvez was able to motor around the bases until safely greeting home to give the Lookouts a 1-0 lead. Jackson wasted very little time negating the Lookouts' run. In the top of the third, Leury Bonilla and Scott Savastano hit consecutive singles to begin the rally. Carlos Triunfel then grounded out to third baseman Travis Denker, who threw to second base to nab Savastano. Covering second baseman Elian Herrera then noticed a wandering Bonilla, who was drifting between third and home. A throw home by Herrera ended with a collision at the plate, resulting in Bonilla being ruled safe after catcher Griff Erickson was unable to secure the ball. Herrera led off the top of the third with a double and promptly advance to third on an Alfredo Silverio ground out to third. Brad Coon followed with a run-resulting sacrifice fly to put the Lookouts back up, 2-1. Scott Van Slyke hit a towering solo shot off of Andrew Carraway (7-3) in the sixth inning to augment the Lookouts' lead, 3-1. The Generals inched closer in the eighth inning. Bonilla hit a one-out single and promptly swiped second base. Triunfel then hit a RBI single to put the score at 3-2. Shawn Tolleson flawlessly recorded the final four outs of the game to earn his fifth save of the season for the Lookouts. Will Savage (11-3) pitched sublimely for the Lookouts. In seven innings, he surrendered just one unearned and four hits, while striking out four and not issuing a single walk. The Chattanooga Lookouts will hit the road to play a five-game series against the Huntsville Stars, Wednesday. The Lookouts will be back in town on Tuesday, July 26th to begin a five-game homestand against the Jackson Generals. Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
