MONTGOMERY, AL - A sixth inning Tim Beckham throwing error opened the door for the Tennessee Smokies (16-19) to score six unearned runs to beat the Biscuits (19-16) 8-2 Saturday at Riverwalk.

Beckham made a great play to field a one-hopper, but sailed the throw into the dugout to begin the sixth. Neil Schenk (1-1) would retire the next two, but then issue four-straight walks to bring in two runs and make it 4-2 Smokies. Nate Samson then ripped a two-run single to chase Schenk, and Blake Lalli finished the scoring with a two-run single of his own against Paul Phillips.

After Tennessee scored twice in the first against Nick Barnese, the Biscuits tied it in the third with a Tim Beckham homer and a Henry Wrigley RBI-single to score Cole Figueroa who had tripled. Barnese left the game after five innings, having allowed two runs (one earned) on only three hits and three of eight Biscuits walks on the night.

Oswaldo Martinez (2-0) was the winner for the Smokies, pitching a pair of scoreless frames. Starter Brooks Raley took a no-decision, allowing two runs on six hits over four innings.

Beckham, Figueroa, and Wrigley had two hits apiece to lead the offense.

The Biscuits will begin a five-game set with the Jacksonville Suns in Florida Sunday at 5:05 CT. Jim Paduch will oppose Joey O'Gara in the opener.
