PEARL, Miss. - Jarrod Parker worked his longest outing as a member of the BayBears as he pitched 6.2 innings in the BayBears' 4-3 edging of the Mississippi Braves on Saturday night at Trustmark Park.

Parker (9-6) matched a season-high with eight strikeouts as he held the Braves (41-64, 16-19) to three runs on six hits. He left the contest with the tying run on second after a walk to Antoan Richardson, but Billy Spottiswood punched out Willie Cabrera looking to keep the BayBears (64-41, 26-9) in front.

Bryan Woodall worked around a couple two-out singles in the bottom of the eighth to hang a zero while Mike DeMark (S, 7) saddled down the ninth despite allowing a bunt base hit to Richardson. Cabrera bounced out to Jake Elmore to end the contest.

Mississippi did have the initial lead as Cory Harrilchak doubled home Ed Lucas with one away in the bottom of the second. In the third, Richardson singled with one out and took third on a base hit by Cabrera. After Donell Linares popped out, Richardson took it upon himself to steal home on a throw back from Ed Easley to Parker, giving the Braves a two-run cushion.

Jose Lugo (0-2) couldn't contain the advantage as he surrendered three runs in the fourth. A.J. Pollock was hit by a pitch to start the frame while Paul Goldschmidt walked and Taylor Harbin cracked a single to load the bases. After Easley fanned, Marc Krauss hit a bouncer to first that Ernesto Mejia kicked toward center field, bringing home Pollock and Goldschmidt to tie the game.

Two batters later, Jimmy Comerota grounded into a fielder's choice to knock in Harbin, giving the BayBears a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Comerota hit into a double play in the sixth inning that brought home Krauss with the final BayBear tally. Jordan Kreke tripled and scored on a pinch-hit single by Mycal Jones to pull the Braves within one in the seventh, but they wouldn't get any closer.

The BayBears are back home on Sunday night to host the Chattanooga Lookouts at 6:05 from Hank Aaron Stadium. It's a Family Day at "The Hank" as kids can play catch on the field before the game and run the bases after. For tickets, which start at $5 for kids and $7 for adults, please call (251) 479-BEAR or visit www.mobilebaybears.com. You can also follow the BayBears all season long on Facebook and Twitter.
