PEARL, MS - Mobile plated three runs in the top of the fourth en route to a 4-3 victory in the series finale at Trustmark Park. The BayBears took four of five in the series as the Braves fell to 6-18 in the season series against Mobile.
Mobile starter Jarrod Parker (9-6) went six and 2/3 innings. He gave up three earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out eight Braves batters.
Jose Lugo (0-2) worked five innings for the Braves, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks. He struck out four batters on the night.
Mike DeMark (S, 7) came on to work a scoreless ninth, recording his seventh save of the season and third of the five-game series.
Ed Lucas was hit by a pitch before scoring on a Cory Harrilchak double down the right field line to give the M-Braves a 1-0 lead over the BayBears in the bottom of the second.
Antoan Richardson and Willie Cabrera both singled to put runners at the corners in the third. Richardson then stole home to give the Braves a 2-0 advantage. The last M-Brave to swipe home was Cody Johnson on April 22, 2010, against Mobile.
A.J. Pollock was hit by a pitch, Paul Goldschmidt walked, and Taylor Harbin singled to load the bases of BayBears in the fourth. Marc Krauss then reached on an error by Mejia, allowing Pollock and Goldschmidt both to score and tie the game at 2-2. A Jake Elmore single reloaded the bases for a Jimmy Comerota RBI ground out to make it 3-2.
With runners on first and third, Comerota grounded into a double play, allowing Krauss to score and extend Mobile's lead to 4-2.
Jordan Kreke tripled and scored on a Mycal Jones pinch hit single to center field, cutting the BayBears lead to 4-3.
Right-hander Randall Delgado (5-5, 4.00) takes the hill in game one of a five-game series at Pringles Park Sunday afternoon. He'll counter Generals' lefty James Paxton (1-0, 2.84). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
