PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves dropped a 6-2 contest to the Chattanooga Lookouts Wednesday morning at Trustmark Park in front of a School Day Matinee crowd of 5,795. The loss evens the series at two games apiece and forces a rubber match in Thursday evening's series finale at 7:00 PM.

Mississippi (4-10) scored two runs on five hits. Chattanooga (5-9) plated six runs on nine hits. DJ Hicks led the Lookouts at the plate with a 3-for-5 day. Joe Maloney added two hits including a home run along with Leonardo Reginatto putting up a two-hit day.

Maloney ripped a solo homer to left field in the top of the fourth to give Chattanooga a 1-0 lead. The M-Braves responded in the bottom half of the inning when Carlos Franco singled and later scored on a Steve Rodriguez base hit to center field.

In the fifth, Zach Granite walked and swiped second and third. Shannon Wilkerson then drew a walk to put runners at the corners. Daniel Palka singled to right, driving home Granite before Maloney walked to load the bases. A wild pitch later brought home Wilkerson, giving the Lookouts a 3-1 lead.

Mississippi made it a 3-2 game in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Lipka doubled and eventually scored on an Ozzie Albies ground out.

The Lookouts added a single run in each of the final three frames, making it a 6-2 contest.

Rob Whalen (1-1) suffered the loss, giving up three earned runs on two hits and five walks. He struck out six batters.

Aaron Slegers (1-1) worked seven innings for the Lookouts and picked up the win. He held the Braves to just two earned runs on four hits and one walk while fanning three. Alex Wimmers and JT Chargois tossed the final two innings to close out the game.

In Thursday's series finale against the Lookouts, the M-Braves send righty Brandon Barker (0-0, 1.64) to the hill against Chattanooga right-hander Ryan Eades (0-1, 8.38). First pitch is slated for 7:00 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
