
Long Island Nets Defeat Westchester for First Home Win

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (3-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, took down the Westchester Knicks (4-8) 119-106 in front of a packed Education Day crowd at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Long Island guard Jaylen Hands led the way for the Nets with a career-high 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field, 3-of-9 shooting from 3-point range and 4-of-5 shooting from the charity stripe to go along with six rebounds, five assists and three steals in 37 minutes of action.
Two-way forward Henry Ellenson also had a strong performance for Long Island, recording 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 shooting from the charity stripe to go along with 14 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 36 minutes of play, finishing the contest with his third double-double of the season.
Long Island jumped out the gate hot, opening with a 20-9 lead over the first 7:09 of the quarter. The Nets maintained their strong play throughout the opening quarter of play, going into the second with a 33-19 lead.
The Nets carried their strong play into the second, improving their lead to 50-26 over the first 4:09 of the second quarter of play. The Knicks battled back to remain in the quarter and the game but were outscored 37-33 in the second and entered the half down 70-52.
Long Island kept its foot on the gas entering the third quarter as they continued their strong play on the offensive end. The Knicks, however, wouldn't back down, getting to within 12 points of the Nets with 7:38 left to play in the third. The Nets were able to add to their lead before the end of the third, entering the final quarter of play up 101-82.
The Knicks came out fast to start the fourth, opening the quarter with a 9-2 run over the first 2:58. The battle continued as the Knicks were able to get within six points of the Nets but would never get closer as Long Island closed out the game with a 119-106 victory.
Westchester guard Lamar Peters had a strong game for the Knicks, finishing the contest with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range and 2-of-3 shooting from the charity stripe to go along with three rebounds and nine assists in 34 minutes of play. Two-way forward/center Ivan Rabb also had a strong performance for the Knicks, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double in 31 minutes of play.
The Nets play their next game against the Lakeland Magic on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. ET at the RP Funding Center, while the Knicks will travel to Greensboro to take on the Swarm next on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. ET.
