CEDAR PARK, Texas (Dec. 10, 2019) - The Austin Spurs (7-6), presented by SWBC, overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat the Stockton Kings (7-5) by a final score of 127-122 on Tuesday night at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Spurs in scoring with 23 points (6-11 FG, 7-7 FT) in 25 minutes, while Kenny Williams finished with 22 points (7-14 FG, 5-6 3FG, 1-1 FT) in 27 minutes. San Antonio Spurs assignee Keldon Johnson posted 17 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3FG, 2-2 FT), 6 rebounds and 2 steals in 22 minutes. Five other Spurs finished in double figures, including Jeff Ledbetter (13), Drew Eubanks (12), Galen Robinson Jr. (12), Matt Farrell (12) and Dedric Lawson (12).
The Austin Spurs started the game on a 14-6 run giving them an early lead in the contest. The Kings answered with a run of their own to end the quarter down 35-31. The Kings gained their first lead of the night at 42-41 with 8:33 left in the second quarter. Their lead grew as high as 10 points with 53.9 seconds left, but the Spurs ended the half on a 5-0 run bringing the lead down to 68-63.
In the third quarter, the Kings outscored the Spurs 30-20, giving them a 98-83 lead going into the fourth. The Kings' lead grew as high as 16 points with 7:41 left in the fourth quarter. The Spurs proceeded to go on a 19-3 run tying the score at 112 with 3:30 left. The lead would change three more times before the Spurs were able to pull away at the end with a 15-10 run in the final three minutes. Weatherspoon and Williams paced the Spurs in the fourth scoring 10 and 11 points respectively. As a team, the Spurs outscored the Kings 44-24 in the fourth quarter, allowing them to come away with a 127-122 comeback win.
For the Kings, Gabe Vincent led all scorers with 37 points (13-18 FG, 6-10 3FG, 4-4 FT) in 34 minutes, while Kyle Guy finished with 25 points and 6 rebounds in 38 minutes.
