Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell to Raptors 905 Wednesday afternoon, 113-109.
The Bulls started off strong on the offensive end from the early 11 o'clock tip, shooting .500 in the first quarter from both the field and three-point range.
Milton Doyle led Windy City with an active first frame, notching seven quick points, handing out four assists and grabbing two rebounds. The Bulls led 29-25 after one.
The second quarter turned into an up-and-down affair as both teams combined to score 68 points. The 905 caught fire on their way to a 19-6 run, moving into a lead that stretched to as many as ten.
Getting things going for the Raptors in the first half were South Carolina product Duane Notice with ten points and three assists, including 2-for-3 from deep, and Paul Watson Jr. with 16 points on 6-for-8 from the floor, three rebounds and two assists.
Windy City ended the half with a run of their own to cut the 905 lead to two points, 62-60.
The Bulls had three players in double figures for the half including Doyle with 12 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals for the Bulls, Thomas Wilder with 11 points and five assists, and Ferrakohn Hall with ten points on 5-for-7 shooting.
Doyle and Max Strus helped Windy City to open the second half on a 16-5 run to take a 76-67 advantage. The Bulls totaled nine steals in the game to grab control in the third, leading 87-81.
The Raptors battled back in the fourth quarter behind strong defense, forcing 12 Bulls turnovers, and balanced offense, taking the lead at 100-98 and never relenting it again. The 905 finished the game with seven players in double figures including Watson with 20 points and six rebounds, and Dewan Hernandez with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Windy City was able to cut the deficit to two points 111-109 with 8.6 seconds remaining, but Juwan Evans (Eight points, six assists) dropped in two key free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory in a game that featured seven lead changes and five ties.
The Bulls finished with six players in double figures led by Doyle with 28 points, eight assists and four steals, Strus with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Justin Simon with a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double of his own.
Windy City (6-6) will remain home to host the Austin Spurs at Sears Centre Arena on Saturday night.
